The Paleontological Society of Finland BKK

The Paleontological Society of Finland promotes the community of paleontologists and specifically supports the popularization and research of paleontology and natural history in Finland. The society aims to operate in the spirit of the late paleontologist Björn Kurtén and, in particular, the paleontological and evolutionary research conducted at the University of Helsinki.

The main activity of the Paleontological Society of Finland is to support the Björn Kurtén Club (BKK, BK-klubi, Kurtén Club). To fulfill its purpose, the society organizes regular club activities, including presentations, discussions, field trips, and guest lectures. Other activities include study trips, peer support for students, statements and opinions in the media on relevant issues in the field, fossil identification, and maintaining international networks.

The Paleontological Society of Finland was established in 2021.

The Björn Kurtén Club has been in operation since 1997.
